Addressing an election meeting in support of BJP candidate Sunil Soren in this predominantly tribal pocket, NDA’s prime ministerial candidate L K Advani on Saturday evening asked people to vote for the BJP so that the party could fulfil the “unfinished tasks” of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Advani reminded people about a host of schemes and projects which were launched during the NDA rule but could not be completed as the alliance was voted out of power. “Please help us regain power so that we fulfil these unfinished tasks,” he said.
The senior BJP leader, who arrived here about 150 minutes behind the schedule, appeared visibly tired due to the scorching sun and tight electioneering schedule. His reference to the rising prices seemed to have a direct impact on the audience, comprising mostly poor people, as they complained in unison about the soaring prices of commodities like sugar (Rs 28 per kg) and flour (Rs 20 per kg).
