On Friday “The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, met the President Ram Nath Kovind and tendered his resignation along with the council of ministers. The President has accepted the resignation and requested Shri Narendra Modi and the council of ministers to continue till the new government assumes office,” said a communique from Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Sh. Narendra Modi is likely to take the oath, along with his new ministry, on the evening of May 30 in the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan. Modi will take the oath as India’s 15th Prime Minister at Rashtrapati Bhavan along with his council of ministers.
In 2014, Narendra Modi took oath on May 26.
Modi’s 2014 oath ceremony was a major diplomatic event. However, officially there is no update whether the 2019 swearing-in ceremony will be a grand celebration or a low-key event.
The BJP alliance National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has won a total of 351 seats in the 542-seat Lok Sabha.
